Position Overview and Responsibilities
National Instruments Southern Africa is seeking an entry level Application Engineer with strong technical problem solving and software programming skills. This individual will help customers to troubleshoot product installation and operation, interface to chosen sensors and data sources, and in coding software to collect, store, and interpret the data. Application Engineers interact with our design verification, marketing, and sales personnel in pursuit of solutions for our customers. Application Engineering is the platform from which to launch an advanced career in hardware, software, and firmware design engineering.
In addition to the above the candidate would be expected to address seminars on technical topics and foster relationships with Academic Institutions. IT support may also be required from time to time. The incumbent would report to the head of the application engineering department.
We are looking for career-minded candidates that are eager to help NI continue its market leadership position in the electronic test, measurement, and data acquisition industries.
This position requires a Bachelors degree in Engineering with 0-3 years of experience. The individual must have practical experience with traditional bench top instrumentation and a solid understanding of electronics. The individual must have demonstrable capability with a programming language (Visual C# and/or Visual C++), and must be proficient in Windows 7 & 8. Linux platform and Tablet programming experience are major pluses. The individual must also have excellent listening, telephone, written and verbal communication skills, as well as qualities of persistence and initiative.
